THE FIRST HYBRID DIGITAL/ANALOG FM
TRANSLATORS HIT THE MARKET!
March 20, 2006
Marcellus, NY -- Armstrong Transmitter has
introduced the first FM translators designed for radio’s digital future, the
TRX-HD Series.
These cutting edge translators are designed
to transition with a station as it journeys from analog only broadcasting to
the digital hybrid mode and eventually to broadcasting in 100% Digital.
“Once again Armstrong is proudly leading
the industry with this cutting edge application and filling a niche with
this dynamic new product” Said Armstrong President Sinan Mimaroglu. This is
not a new position for Armstrong whose custom manufactured the linear
amplifiers were used by Lucent Technology for the first live IBOC FM tests
which eventually lead to the creation of HD Radio® as we know it today.
The TRX-HD receives an FM stations entire
signal payload over the air, including its HD Radio® Digital component. The
signal content is transferred to the TRX-HD transmit side for retransmission
on the translator frequency.
“The TRX-HD Series allows a station to
operate their translators within the confines of their HD Radio® licensing
agreement because it does not take signal back down to base band audio.”
Said Armstrong sales and Marketing Manger Ernie Belanger.
The TRX-HD Series is available at three
power levels to cover every translator need.
The TRX-HD10 provides 10 watts in the
Hybrid Digital mode, the TRX-HD50 provides 50 Hybrid Digital watts and
TRX-HD100 is a 100watt Hybrid Digital translator. Higher Hybrid power levels
are achieved by adding and Armstrong Solid State amplifier to the TRX-HD10.
These versatile translators can also be
used as an analog only translators at 30, 150 and 300 watts respectively for
stations who have not yet begun broadcasting an HD Radio® component.
“As of today there is no longer a need for
translator owners to purchase an analog translator now, only
to find themselves forced to replace in a year or so, when a station begins
broadcasting in the hybrid mode and eventually the all digital mode”
According to Belanger. “This product paves the way for a station to step
completely into radio’s Digital future.” He concluded.
The new TRX-HD series feature front panel
frequency agility with LCD screens that independently display the parameters
of the receiver and transmitter sections while complete parameters are
available via RS232 and DB 25 connectors on the rear panel for remote
control.
Armstrong begins shipping the TRX Series in
June, they are already booking advanced orders for the TRX-HD series.
